The Plates Are Piled High With Seafood At The Delicious Gurnet Trading Co. In Maine

Being in Maine means incredible views and some of the best food in the country. Most of all, it means delicious seafood at your fingertips! In the summer you'll find it around just about every bend in the road, but in the winter things can get a bit harder. That's why we love this spot. They're open in the winter and the amount of food they offer will fill your belly and your plate!

For the cutest little seafood shanty with some seriously delicious food look no further than Gurnet's Trading Co. in Brunswick.

Located just off the side of Gurnet Road, this little spot is great if you're both hungry and in search of a seriously Maine experience.

Inside you'll find a simple counter with a menu board featuring everything on offer for the day.

Owned by Brian and Julie Soper, Gurnet's got it start as a way for Brian to sell his scallop haul.

Today they act as both a seafood market and take-out restaurant that supports local fishermen by buying and selling their goods.

And the food? Well, that's something special. They offer a variety of fried seafood options, including shrimp, scallops, clams, oysters and haddock.

Each "sea basket" is served with a hearty helping of fries, slaw or potato salad.

And when it comes to seafood, these helpings are fresh and huge!

Come in for locally caught lobster, clams and mussels.

And remember to get oysters!

And, it goes without saying that you should try the lobster roll when it's in season.

No matter what you get you'll definitely leave satisfied. And you might even consider bringing home some chowdah for later!

Gurnet Trading Co. is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Between November and April you should call ahead to make sure they're open as weather can affect their hours during this time.
