The History Behind La Petite Grocery In New Orleans Is Almost As Rich As The Food
La Petite Grocery in New Orleans offers a historic dining experience with a menu featuring local favorites like blue crab beignets.
New Orleans is home to countless restaurants that have stood the test of time. Restaurants like Commander's Palace and Antoine's have become an iconic part of the Crescent City's culinary landscape, and that's just the tip of the iceberg. While La Petite Grocery doesn't share the same square footage that the Grand Dames do, it certainly shares a similar history. And the food? Well, we'll let you decide for yourself.
You’ll find La Petite Grocery over in the Uptown Neighborhood on the beautiful Magazine Street.
Their address is 4238 Magazine Street, New Orleans, LA 70115.
Established in 2004, La Petite Grocery is a charming little bistro that’s a great option for lunch, dinner, or weekend brunch.
But before we get into the menu, let’s take a look at the history of this incredible space.
In the late 1800s, the building was home to the Central Tea, Coffee, and Butter Depot.
They sold everything from in-house roasted coffee to imported teas from all over the world. Unfortunately, the original building was devastated by a fire that swept through the city in 1908. Like so many New Orleanians have done in the past, they rebuilt and came back bigger and better than ever.
Today, La Petite Grocery pays tribute to the building’s history while serving up sensational New Orleans cuisine.
You’ll feel the history from the moment you step inside.
The James Beard Award winning eatery serves dinner seven nights a week along with weekend lunches and brunches.
