Louisiana has some seriously good food. In fact, it could easily be argued that our state has the best food in the entire nation. It's always fun to find a restaurant that sources local produce and seafood...and has a unique, historic theme. LOLA Restaurant in Covington celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. Check it out:
LOLA opened in Covington, Louisiana in 2006.
The restaurant is located at 517 North New Hampshire Street, inside Covington's historic train depot.
Owners Keith and Nealy Frentz both earned their degrees in culinary arts from Johnson & Wales University.
The two restauranteurs were very young when they opened their dream restaurant; Keith was 28 and Nealy was just 23. Clearly, their ages didn't hold them back. The restaurant is simply amazing.
A train caboose serves as the kitchen at LOLA.
Quarters might be tight, but the chef and kitchen staff sure manage to create some amazing dishes here.
Bronzed Gulf Grouper is a delicious dinner item.
Seafood, anyone? This is served with risotto, wild mushrooms, collards and local crawfish.LOLA locally sources as much produce, seafood and other offerings as it possibly can, so pretty much anything you order off the menu will be fresh.
Red Beans And Rice...yum!
This delicious, traditional dish is on the lunch menu for just $10.
I dare you to try to pass up the Roasted Banana Pudding.
This is served with LOLA's own house made Nilla wafers.
Keeping with the restaurant's train theme, a new dining car will soon add seating for another 30 diners!
The dining car isn't open quite yet...but should be soon.
Don't miss the once-a-month Thursday night Supper Club.
The menu is always a secret, but you're guaranteed to get something special.
Whether you eat inside the historic train depot...
...or outside on the patio, dining at LOLA is an experience you won't forget.
