They’ve been open since 1977, making them one of the oldest and longest-running restaurants in Hammond.

The restaurant is named after Jacque de Melo, an Italian pirate. His ship crashed against the rocks in the Caribbean and while hiding out in a hotel, he befriended some Creole-speaking Haitians, who referred to him as Jacmel.

You truly can’t go wrong with anything on their menu, but the restaurant is best known for their hand-cut steaks and fresh fish specials.
