While countless Creole restaurants serve truly delicious dishes, there's one, in particular, that's a bit off the beaten path, but worth the extra effort to get there. Gas up the car, because today we're heading to Glenda's Creole Kitchen in the heart of Cajun Country. Here, you'll find some of the best Creole food in Louisiana, and you're going to want to pay it a visit.
On the outskirts of Breaux Bridge lies a fairly unassuming little building that you normally wouldn't pay much attention to.
We've said it before, and we'll say it again: don't judge a book by its cover - or a restaurant before you've stepped inside. It may not look like much from the outside, but Glenda's Creole Kitchen serves some of the most amazing meals in Louisiana.
The interior is charming and humble.
It's small and fills up quickly, so be sure to get there early to ensure a table.
Eating at Glenda's is very much like eating at your grandmother's.
Huge portions of family recipes served in a no-frills environment. It's one of those places where you'll feel like family from the moment you arrive.
When it comes to homestyle Creole fare, no one does it better than Glenda.
After Glenda Broussard's co-workers began to pay her to cook for them, Glenda decided to open up her own little restaurant in 2000. It's been quite a popular neighborhood restaurant ever since.
Glenda's serves plate lunches seven days a week.
And the portions are massive, so be sure to bring your appetite.
The menu is always changing, based on what's in season and what Glenda wants to cook.
So you know you're getting the freshest possible meal, always made with love.
Chicken and sausage gumbo, stuffed turkey wings, and fried pork chops are just a sample of what’s typically on the menu.
