The Hand-Trimmed Steaks From the Oldest Steakhouse in Louisville Are My Absolute Favorite
I loved every bite of the filet at Louisville's oldest steakhouse. It was perfectly accompanied by delicious sides and a gigantic brownie sundae.
Don't you love a restaurant you can count on? You know the type—no matter the season, time of day, or item on the menu, it delivers delicious food and top-notch service, meal after meal. I can always count on a fantastic meal from Pat's Steakhouse in Louisville. Recently, I had the chance to have a celebratory dinner with my parents, and all three of us agreed that Pat's was just the place to go.

Pat's Steakhouse opened in 1958 and is family-owned and operated. It's Louisville's oldest steakhouse and specializes in hand-trimmed steaks. The restaurant's interior is warm and inviting, with dark wood surfaces and memorabilia hanging on the walls. Countless pieces of crystal glassware around the restaurant point to its Irish essence.
We walked into the restaurant one Saturday night and were warmly greeted by Pat himself. He asked if we were celebrating any special occasions, and a host led us to our table. The atmosphere was lively and fun; this is the perfect place to relax and celebrate. The dining room tables were full of happy diners; people chatted and drank wine and other beverages. We perused the menu, noting a variety of wines sold by the bottle and the glass. I ordered a glass of prosecco while my parents requested a beer and a glass of pinot grigio.

We looked over the menu. It had appetizers like Shrimp Cocktail, Irish Stew, and Baby Frog Legs. Beef entrees included Filet Mignon, New York Strip, and Ribeye, and seafood entrees included French Fried Shrimp, Ahi Tuna Steak, and Fresh Baked Salmon. There were also veal, pork, and chicken entrees; I have heard through the grapevine that the 1/2 Fried Chicken is to die for. When it was time to choose an entree, we could not resist the steak. We each ordered a filet and two sides. I debated which sides to pick but ultimately chose cauliflower and lima beans.

The steak was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. It was wrapped in bacon, juicy, and flavorful. Cauliflower and lima beans are not always my favorite vegetables, but I know from experience that they are not to be missed at Pat's Steakhouse. The cauliflower was smothered in delicious cheese sauce, and the lima beans were tender and perfectly seasoned. I also love their green beans and hash browns if those sides are more your style.

Although feeling satisfied with my hearty meal, I left a little room for dessert. The waiter brought a Fudge Brownie Sundae big enough for the whole table. It had a warm, rich chocolate brownie in the bottom topped with fudge sauce, vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, and a cherry. It was as scrumptious as it sounds.
We wrapped up our meal feeling wonderfully full and happy, pleased with the food, service, and atmosphere. I highly recommend Pat's Steakhouse for any celebration, including birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays.

Lucky for us Louisvillians, there are several spectacular restaurants in the city. I especially love Seviche in the Highlands neighborhood and Lou Lou on Market in Nulu.
If you decide to turn a fantastic meal into a weekend getaway in the city, consider staying at Tempo by Hilton Louisville Downtown Nulu. The hotel has a fitness center and is near several fantastic restaurants and shops.
