This Upscale Steakhouse Inside Leitchfield’s Historic Alexander Building Is a Must-Visit

Once upon a time, town squares played important roles in the history of many Kentucky cities; they were places where people gathered to discuss important issues, share information, and celebrate together. I love visiting places that were instrumental in Kentucky's history. Some historic public squares in Kentucky still exist, like the one in Leitchfield, which underwent an impressive rejuvenation. Particularly worth visiting is a historic building in Leitchfield's public square repurposed as an upscale steakhouse called Steak & Stone.

Steak & Stone opened in May 2024 at 80 Public Square in Leitchfield, Kentucky.

The property is in the historic Alexander Building. The Alexander Hotel and Alice Theatre are nearby and have also undergone extensive renovations.

The restaurant is Kentucky-themed, and many of its dishes and drinks reflect this motif.

Steak & Stone is also a Kentucky Proud business and focuses on buying local and quality ingredients. It uses USDA Choice or better steaks, which are aged for at least 21 days.

The restaurant serves a variety of appetizers, including a generously sized Bavarian pretzel, pimento cheese dip, fried green tomatoes, shrimp cocktail, and charcuterie.

Its entrees include premium steaks, fresh pastas, burgers, and fire-cooked pizzas. The restaurant also offers a kid's menu featuring pasta, chicken tenders, pizza, and a 10-ounce Angus sirloin.

Steak & Stone's pizzas are cooked at very high temperatures, about 800 degrees Fahrenheit.

Steak & Stone's bar is well-stocked, with over 100 types of Kentucky bourbons.

The restaurant serves specialty cocktails, including the Smoked Old Fashioned, crafted with bourbon, black walnut bitters, simple syrup, and smoke. The Secretariat Mule is another bourbon cocktail made with bourbon, watermelon, and ginger beer, among other ingredients.

Terry Branson and Nathan Ball are the co-owners of Steak & Stone.
