This Adventure-Themed Cafe In Iowa Is Truly Enchanting

Who doesn't love burgers? I certainly do, and if the fact that there's a burger joint on any corner is any indication, so do a lot of you. But it's not that easy anymore to find a truly unique burger restaurant - all the niches are covered. That is, I thought so until I discovered The Map Room, a unique themed restaurant in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. From the exterior, this laid-back restaurant looks like a typical neighborhood joint - but inside, it's like visiting another world. Covered with mementos from around the world and ancient maps, it feels like an adventurer's club that would be frequented in an old Jules Verne novel before the big adventure kicked off. And those maps aren't the only thing brought from around the world here - the internationally-inspired menu of burgers and fries will give your favorite meal a flavor boost you never thought possible.

The Map Room's humble exterior doesn't give away what awaits inside - almost like it's the city's little secret.

Inside, it feels like you've just traveled in space and time back to a world of exploration and adventure. Keep an eye on the vintage maps everywhere in the place.

Even the lighting feels rustic and old-fashioned. The food, however, is state-of-the-art.

The menu here is internationally inspired, with the burgers drawing elements from Delhi, Havana, Morocco, Vietnam, Australia, and so much more.

Even the fries get a hefty flavor boost. Poutine is on the menu, as well as unique variants from Peru, Ireland, and Santa Fe.

Other international specialties like flatbreads also make their way onto the menu at times as specials. The menu is always being reinvented with new inspirations from around the world, so it's no surprise most guests come back time and time again.

And of course, it wouldn't be an old-fashioned clubhouse without a full-service bar. The bartender here knows all the classics, as well as a few surprises.
