My Visit To Lady Tron’s, A Quirky Soup and Sandwich Shop with Retro Outer Space Charm
Lady Tron's is a retro outer space-themed soup and sandwich restaurant in New Albany, Indiana. I tried the Enchilada Soup and Leia sandwich, and both were incredible. This is a small restaurant, great for people dining alone or small groups.
New Albany, Indiana, is a dream. It's a charming, walkable small city nestled on the banks of the Ohio River. Two of its primary thoroughfares, Main Street and Market Street, are full of delicious eateries, shops, and unique small businesses. I enjoy strolling and browsing these streets; I know I'll always stumble across something I love. Sometimes, it's the perfect gift, and others, it's a fantastic meal. I recently tried Lady Tron's, a quirky space-themed soup and sandwich shop on East Market Street, and I can't wait to return.

I approached Lady Tron's on a sunny weekday afternoon and immediately noticed its colorful exterior. The corner restaurant is covered in bright blues, greens, oranges, and yellows. Because it was long past the usual lunch hour, I expected to be the only person inside the restaurant. I was surprised to see that customers filled almost every seat. I settled in one of the bar seats and looked around Lady Tron's interior. There was a lot to take in!
The restaurant was quite small and cozy, seating fewer than ten diners inside. Customers sat on stools facing an L-shaped counter. Behind the counter, the friendly employees passed out menus, took orders, and served food and drinks. To the right of the entryway was a small kitchen where dishes were prepared and plated. Countless space-themed items, including coffee mugs, magnets, and stickers, lined the shelves behind the counter. Outside seating is also available during warmer weather.

Lady Tron's menu included many sandwiches, like the LT with loose maple ground beef, bacon, queso, and potato chips, and the Ripley with pulled chicken, a blueberry molasses sauce, and sesame slaw. The daily specials posted on the back wall included Chicken Enchilada soup, Clam Chowda, and an Asian Pomegranate Chicken Sandwich with rice and sesame slaw. I couldn't decide what to order with so many unique and interesting soups and sandwiches.

I decided to go with the Chicken Enchilada soup, one of my very favorite soups. I've tried dozens of varieties of this soup, and my standards were high. I was blown away! First, I was impressed with how quick the service was. In seconds, I had a steaming bowl of soup with tortilla chips and crackers. Second, the taste was dynamite. It had a deep flavor and wasn't overly spicy. I loved chatting with the other customers as I ate. Because we were all in a line on stools around the counter, we couldn't help but talk about what we each ordered and what brought us to the area. The woman dining next to me said she couldn't finish a section of her Leia sandwich and asked if I wanted it. I happily tried the grilled cheese made with brie, muenster, and apple butter on cinnamon raisin bread. It was a fantastic, sweet ending to my meal.
I had an awesome experience at Lady Tron's. The food was terrific, and I look forward to trying other regular and special menu items. Beyond the food, the atmosphere was welcoming and downright fun. It's a great place to dine alone or with a small group.
