Fine dining certainly has its time and place. But we all have those days when nothing but a big, hearty, classic burger will do. When that craving strikes, hop in the car and head straight to Wally's Drive-In in the small city of Breese. This timeless burger stand serves some of the most scrumptious burgers in the state.
Wally's Drive-In opened in 1951 in a former gas station.
It was founded by Wally Knue, and while ownership has changed hands (all within the same family) several times, it still maintains its original 1950s charms. In fact, Wally Knue is now in his 90s, but you still might see him flipping burgers now and then.
Wally's is located at 711 N 4th Street in Breese, and it's an easy-to-spot building.
You can grab lunch to-go or stay and enjoy it at one of the outdoor tables.
The hamburger is ground fresh daily here, and the quality of the beef is excellent.
The burgers are cooked on a standard flat-top grill with metal spatulas, the old-fashioned way.
If you're really hungry, you can order a double or triple cheeseburger... or more.
The record is a burger with 14 patties, but we don't recommend attempting that.
Wally's also serves freshly-made milkshakes, waffle fries, chicken strips, cod sandwiches, and chicken sandwiches.
This is classic comfort food done right.
This charming little burger stand is open daily from 10:30 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.
Come see why so many people are smitten with this old-fashioned burger hut.
Wally's Drive-In is famous for the Wally Burger, a single smashed patty with pickles. However, you'll find a long list of specialty burgers on the menu. Have you ever been to Wally's Drive-In?
