In a state known mostly for its Chicago-style deep-dish pizza and Chicago-style hot dogs, Illinois may not be the place that first comes to mind when it comes to incredible, mouthwatering BBQ. But if you enjoy some good, downhome Southern-style barbecue, there's a place in Quincy called Fatbacks BBQ and you need to make plans to go.
Donald and Princess Osborne started out in barbecue competitions and due to numerous requests, decided to open up their own barbecue joint. Fatbacks BBQ first opened its doors in 2012 and has been serving up drool-worthy food ever since.
Fatbacks BBQ pit-smokes a variety of meats including beef brisket, ribs, turkey, chicken, pulled pork, and pork loin.
What would you choose at this incredible barbecue joint? How about a pulled pork sandwich with a side of their amazing mac and cheese? All sandwiches come with a choice of one side and a pickle spear.
Speaking of sides, customers have said that the collard greens at Fatbacks are the best they've ever had!
In addition to mac and cheese and collard greens, award-winning homemade baked beans, coleslaw, potato salad, and Fatbacks' dirty rice are also available as sides.
There are so many incredible options on the menu. Aside from sandwiches, there are hot dogs, burgers, plenty of barbecue platters that come with two sides and cornbread, and more.
For something a bit different, try a Specialty Q like this BBQ Sundae made with sweet baked beans and either brisket or pork, coleslaw, and sauce, all layered in a cup and topped with a dill pickle. Delicious!
And if you love the sauce, take some home! The Burnt End, Tangy, Sweet Heat, Dusty Mustard, and Ghost White are all sold by the pint, quart, or gallon.
