North Hi-Way Café has been a staple in Idaho Falls for decades. This restaurant first opened its doors in 1934, but it definitely wasn’t the restaurant you see today.
When the café first opened, it was actually located inside a garage. The owner of the auto shop set up tables around the garage so his customers could eat while waiting for their vehicles (like their Model A's!) to be worked on. Eventually, the cafe took off and the garage transformed into a full-time restaurant.
Today, the café still has that old-fashioned charm. But it isn’t the building that keeps guests always walking through the door – it’s the food.
North Hi-Way Café in Idaho Falls serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and regardless of when you visit, be prepared for one tasty meal. Baking and food prep begins at 3:30 A.M. each day, ensuring that even the earliest breakfast customers enjoy fresh and homemade meals.

If you love a good burger, try one of the many specialty burgers on the menu. Each one is served with your choice of French fries or potato salad.
