I like to consider myself a creative and crafty person. But, as a mom with young children and many other responsibilities, sitting down to unleash my creativity doesn’t happen as much as I’d like. That’s why I’m excited to share this must-visit attraction in Meridian — Wood & Root Bar. Here, you can become creative with wood, plants, and alcohol. It’s the ultimate night out.

Wood & Root Bar is the type of place where you’ll want to grab your friends, forget your worries, and unleash your creativity. It is a space where you can plant, craft, and have a drink. You’ll find it at 132 East Idaho Avenue in Merdian.

Wood & Root Bar was the idea of two friends with struggling retail businesses. They combined their expertise and retail spaces and Wood & Root Bar took off from there.

But remember ... this isn’t your typical bar. This is a creative space where you can sit down and complete various projects such as planting a terrarium, embroidery, wood-based crafts, making sky planters, and so much more. Prices for each project vary and typically begin around $35.

Even better, you don’t have to plan around the bar's class schedules to complete certain projects. You don’t even need to be a crafty person or have experience gardening and working with plants. You can come at any time, choose your project, and receive assistance throughout the entire process. Just keep in mind that while reservations are not required, they are strongly recommended, particularly if you plan to bring large groups or visit on the weekend.

And while you work, you can enjoy a drink. Because this is a bar, you must be at least 21 years old to enter. Even if you want to come inside and look at the variety of plants, you will be required to show an I.D. before being allowed inside.

And if you don’t drink alcohol, that’s not a problem! Mocktails are available. While you cannot bring any outside beverages or personal water bottles, you can bring light snacks if they are kept at your table.
