The Delicious Chocolate Factory in Florida to Visit for a Sweet Treat

Chocolate enthusiasts in Fort Lauderdale are in for a real treat because hidden inside this delightful beachfront city is a factory filled with sweets. Schakolad Chocolate Factory (pronounced SHAQ-OH-LAD) is a strip mall surprise that you might just drive by heading to A1A. But if you have a sweet tooth or if you're looking to give a delicious gift to a friend or family member, this place is full of delicious surprises. I made the trek to visit this neighborhood favorite, and I am so glad I did.

Established in 1995, Schakolad (pronounced shaq-oh-LAD) combines the founder's name, "Schaked," with "chocolate," reflecting a rich tradition of three generations of chocolate-making expertise. Offering a range of handcrafted European-style chocolates made fresh, this charming boutique is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., inviting visitors to indulge in delectable creations. The first thing I noticed when I stepped inside this chocolate shop were the two machines in the background whirring fresh liquid chocolate around, creating an aroma that I could've spent all day enjoying.

What makes these chocolates stand out is that each piece is individually made on the premises by the chocolatiers. The "made fresh on premises" concept ensures that chocolate items are not pre-packaged at headquarters. Instead, each retail location prepares and hand-dips its chocolates on-site. That's a lot of chocolate!

Visitors have praised the shop for its amazing chocolates and drinks, as well as the friendly and helpful owners, making it a must-visit spot in Fort Lauderdale. I personally would've indulged in a fresh espresso if it wasn't so late in the day, but each of the coffee confections offered looked like they would make the perfect pairing with a freshly dipped chocolate piece.

So, what did I walk away with from Shakolad Chocolate Factory? A dark chocolate dipped pineapple, a dark chocolate cherry, a truffle mint, a milk chocolate krispie, and a caramel surprise. My order was only the tip of the iceberg of what I could've indulged in here. There are SO many wonderful confections; it really just means I'll have to be back again and again to try them all.

One of the best parts about visiting this chocolate factory in Florida is the fact I could choose my own assortment, like a choose-your-own sweets adventure, personally curated for my tastebuds.
