The $100 Day: How to Enjoy a Full Day in Fort Lauderdale Without Breaking the Bank

Enjoy an entire day in Fort Lauderdale under $100. Fun, sun, and surf included.

Who says a day of fun in the sun should cost a fortune? Living in Broward County, I know how expensive exploring Fort Lauderdale can be. But plenty of ways to enjoy this oceanfront playground on a budget exist. You don't need to be a savvy traveler to get the most out of Fort Lauderdale, especially if the goal is to avoid overspending. With just $100, we outline how to enjoy a full day in Fort Lauderdale, Florida; from toes sand fun to iconic dining and spectacular sunsets, let’s dive into a wallet-friendly day that proves you don’t need to spend big to have big fun.

Morning (Total: $15)

Breakfast at Lester’s Diner ($15)
Start your day at this cozy homestyle spot known for its hearty and affordable breakfast options. The Lester’s 2-2-2 is a personal recommendation featuring 2 Eggs, 2 Pancakes, 2 Bacon, or 2 Links. Add a coffee for a few bucks, and you’re out the door with tax and tip under $15. This is one of my favorite diners and I never miss a chance to go.

Stroll Along Las Olas Boulevard (Free)
Walk off your meal with a morning stroll along Las Olas Boulevard, just a few miles from the diner. This popular street is perfect for window shopping and snapping photos, with a mix of boutique shops, galleries, and cafes.

Mid-Morning ($8)

Relax at Fort Lauderdale Beach ($8)
Head to the iconic Fort Lauderdale Beach, easily one of my favorite Florida beaches, to enjoy soft sands and sparkling blue waters. Bring a towel, sunscreen, and snacks to keep your costs low. While Fort Lauderdale Beach Park is free to access and open every day from 5 a.m. to midnight., parking is $4 per hour, so plan for about two hours here.

Lunch (Total: $20)

Lunch at Laspada's Original Hoagies - 17th Street ($20)
Specializing in hoagies, deli sandwiches & salads, Laspada’s has become an institution for lunch-goers in the area. These sandwiches are stacked to the brim and offer an inexpensive meal midday. Most large sandwiches clock in at 12 inches and under $18 + tax and tip. You might even get to witness a signature sandwich toss down the line to prepare your sandwich.

Afternoon (Total: $16)

Visit Hugh Taylor Birch State Park ($6 per vehicle)
Explore this lush oasis located right near the beach. This is one of my favorite places to hike and bike in nature. Both bike rentals and kayak rentals are available. If you’re into history, visit the Birch House Museum to learn about the park’s namesake and his vision for preserving this natural oasis.

Coffee Break at Archibalds Village Bakery ($10)
Need a quick pick-me-up? Stop by this adorable coffee shop for an afternoon jolt. Their partnership with Blooming Bean Coffee is on full display here, from cold brews and lattes to shots of smooth espresso.

Evening (Total: $17.50)

Dinner at Coconuts ($17.50)
Enjoy a laid-back meal overlooking the water. If you want to keep it light, try the delicious smoked fish dip for $14. Or, fill up on the scrumptious grilled Mahi sandwich, also at $14. With tax and tip, you’ll be under $20!

Sunset at the Fort Lauderdale Intracoastal Waterway (Free)
Walk along the Intracoastal Waterway to catch one of those famous Florida sunsets. Watch the yachts cruise by while enjoying the relaxing atmosphere. I love finding a place to sit along the waterway and just take it all in. Bring some headphones and get lost in the beauty.

Night (Total: $9)

A Local Beer at The Wharf ($9)
Wrap up your day with a local beer at The Wharf, a trendy outdoor venue on the water. Enjoy live music, a fun atmosphere, and affordable lagers. Try the Wharf draft for $7! This place can get packed late in the evening, especially on the weekends.

Total Costs: $87.50

This leaves you with some room in your $100 budget for transportation (like Sun Trolley rides or rideshares) or souvenirs to take home.
