Walter’s Is An Old-School Steakhouse In Delaware That Hasn’t Changed In Decades
Walter’s Steakhouse in Wilmington, Delaware, is renowned for its high-quality beef and seafood dishes, continuing a family legacy in the restaurant business.
John Walter Constantinou, owner of Walter’s Steakhouse, served up his first meal at the fine-dining establishment in the Little Italy neighborhood of Wilmington, Delaware, in September 1993. But his family’s history in the restaurant business stretches back much farther.
Back in 1941, John’s grandparents, John and Sophie Constantinou, opened their first eatery in Wilmington. The love of serving up meals was subsequently passed on to John’s father, George Constantinou.
As the latest family member to satiate appetites in Wilmington, John has carved out a reputation of serving up top-of-the-line beef and other menu items. The restaurant also has become noted for its selection of fine wines.
Collectively, the Constantinou family has made their mark in Wilmington for eight decades with various restaurant concepts.
In addition to Walter's, the Constantinou family has operated such eateries as Sophie’s Sub Shop and Constantinou’s House of Beef.
Walter’s Steakhouse has different items on the menu from George’s restaurant, Constantinou’s House of Beef. The signature high-quality beef, however, is a similarity between both establishments.
The signature cuts served up at Walter’s Steakhouse are medium-rare and are known for their abundant flavor.
Walter’s also is known for its selection of seafood dishes, including calamari.
The restaurant also has a decadent dessert menu for those who save room for a sweet treat. Menu items include cheesecake, upside down apple cake, chocolate mouse cake, and key lime pie.
