This Cafe In Delaware Is The First Of Its Kind And You’ll Want To Visit

Kaisy's Delights in Delaware offers a unique Austrian dessert called kaiserschmarrn, making it a must-visit cafe at Rehoboth Beach and Lewes.

Delaware's a tiny state, but there's so much to find here within our borders! The very first Kaiserschmarrn cafe in the country is located at the Delaware beach, and you'll want to visit and try this Austrian treat as soon as you can!

Kaisy's Delights is a new Rehoboth Beach and Lewes icon, and their popular cafes in each town are always swarming with guests.

Kaisy's Lewes location is at 1548 Savannah Rd., Lewes, DE 19958 and the Rehoboth Beach spot is open at 70 Rehoboth Ave. A2, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971

Inside, you'll find a large menu focused around kaiserschmarrn, fresh-brewed coffee, and other homemade treats.

The charming and quirky decor here is decidedly Austrian, and it's not just limited to paintings and pictures!

Grab an alpine hat off the wall...

... and pose for a family picture!

But wait, what's kaiserschmarrn anyway?

Kaiserschmarrn is an Austrian dessert. Here at the cafe, they call it a kaisy for short. It's sort of a delicious cross between a pancake, french toast, and another pastry. Kaisies are caramelized and includes raisins, and they're light and fluffy. It's served in small pieces and traditionally with jam, powdered sugar, or marmalade.

Most visitors choose to try their Kaisy in a cup, topped with homemade chocolate sauce or marmalade, and a few other delicious, fresh toppings.

You can also enjoy a full kaisy-based platter, with homemade marmalade, potato latkes, bacon, sausage and more.

Like any good cafe, Kaisy's Delights serves up delicious coffee creations, as well.

Rumor has it they make the best Americano at the beach, so go on in and try it for yourself!

Both Kaisy's Delights locations are open Sunday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and from 7:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. This charming cafe is the only place where you can find kaiserschmarrn in Delaware, but be warned, it's completely addictive.
