Now that it's finally warming up, everyone in Delaware has one thing on their mind: ice cream. We're an ice cream loving state, that's for sure! In fact, you'd be hard pressed to find a Delawarean who hasn't visited all of our state's creameries to see which one makes the best. Our obsession with ice cream means that we occasionally overlook another sweet treat - milkshakes. 1. Charcoal Pit, Wilmington
There's nothing like an old fashioned milkshake from the Charcoal Pit! Their classic vanilla is as good as you can get, and their triple strawberry shake has been repeatedly named the best in the state. Pair your shake with a burger and fries and enjoy a meal that takes you back to childhood.
2. Mug & Spoon, Rehoboth Beach
Yes, that's a milkshake! Mug & Spoon in Rehoboth Beach is a coffee bar with a Milkshake obsession. Their enormous shakes include all sorts of outrageous toppings, from cake to cotton candy. They truly are works of art.
3. Dairy Palace, New Castle
Dairy Palace is a family favorite and they're known for their soft serve sundaes, but you'd be missing out if you passed up one of their specialty shakes! Try a mint chocolate chip one - you'll be in heaven.
4. Drip Cafe, Hockessin
Drip Cafe in Hockessin uses ice cream from nearby Woodside Farm Creamery to make their delicious signature shakes. Try the Spumoni one for a real treat.
5. Hopkins Farm Creamery, Lewes
Straight from the cow's, uh, mouth? You really can't get any fresher than the ice cream and milk used to create the shakes at Hopkins Farm in Lewes! A stop here is the perfect way to end a beach day.

Grub Burger Bar is one of Wilmington's best kept secrets. Not only are the burgers, fries, and onion rings absolutely amazing, but their shakes really stand out! I love the sweet and salty combinations they've created with caramel, pretzels, chocolate and potato chips.
7. Vanderwende Creamery, Bridgeville
Vanderwende is another creamery that makes ice cream from their own cows, so you're getting a truly authentic experience. Try any of their farm-fresh flavors, top it with homemade whipped cream, and enjoy your shake while you check out their farm.
8. Sweet Lucys Wilmington
Sweet Lucy's in Wilmington is absolutely amazing for shakes and ice cream! Their flavor board is longer than you can imagine, and they often feature brand new creations. Pick your favorite and enjoy a delicious shake.
9. UDairy Creamery, Newark
UDairy will always be one of my favorite spots for ice cream and shakes... a visit to their ice cream shop reminds me of my days at University of Delaware. Enjoy a blended shake with your favorite flavor and mix in a few toppings for a custom creation.
10. Tre Sorelle Dolce, Wyoming
Last on the list, but certainly not last in my heart, is Tre Sorelle Dolce. Their creamy milkshakes might actually be the best in the state, if you're looking for a classic old fashioned shake. I always splurge and get an enormous cookies and cream shake... and I've been known to go way out of my way to visit this rural ice cream shack.
