15 Burger Joints in Connecticut That Will Make Your Mouth Water

Hamburgers are no laughing matter. Americans love a juicy burger with cheese (and dare I say bacon?). But if you want them done right you come to Connecticut, because we made the hamburger famous.  That's right, the first restaurant to serve hamburgers is in Connecticut, and it's still grilling!

1) Louis's Lunch - New Haven

Here it is, folks! The first restaurant to serve burgers on the regular.

2) Five Guys

You can find these all over and I love it. This was basically my hang out in high school.

3) Wayback Burgers - Orange

To be honest, you can also find these all over Connecticut. But I end up at this location during the Orange Country Fair in the summer. It's a great place to start the day.

4) Ted's Restaurant - Meriden

Please note, Ted's Montana Grill is no longer in business.

Famous for steam cooked burgers. They've been featured plenty, so if you haven't tried them I don't know what you're waiting on!

5) Shake Shack - Westport

I originally tasted this burger in New York and loved it. So when they opened shop in Connecticut I did a little dance.

6) Shady Glen - Manchester

This diner-esque restaurant is like time traveling to the 1950s. The only thing missing is the roller skates.

7) Plan B Burger Bar & Tavern - West Hartford

They are the self proclaimed kings of "b" - burgers, beer and bourbon.

8) Ted's Montana Grill - Hartford

The onion rings are to die for, too.

9) Moe's Burger Joint - Bridgeport

Definitely one of the cheesiest burgers I've ever had.

10) Max Burger - West Hartford

There's always a wait when I go, which I think is a good sign. They're excellent bacon makers.

11) Match Restaurant - South Norwalk

Very thick and juicy burgers. Plus, they use local ingredients.

12) Little Barn - Westport

I always leave here feeling full. It's a smaller space, but worth it.

13) Harry's Place - Colchester

Unfortunately, this dive is seasonal so you have to wait until spring to enjoy it.

14) Flipside Burger & Bar - Fairfield

Yes, that is mac n'cheese on top of a burger.

15) Engine Room - Mystic

I love the feel of this place! It actually used to be an engine room, so you get cool wood panel walls and large pipes.
