We Northern Californians can get a teensy bit pretentious about good food. We've been raised on it and we know a counterfeit in quality and taste when we eat it. So, our pizza places have to be some of the best in America. If you're still going to the same pizza joint because you're scared to waste your time on somewhere new, we've got you covered. According to an article written by PBS, these are some of the tastiest pizza places in these Northern California towns.

1. Oak & Rye, 303 N Santa Cruz Ave, Los Gatos

It doesn't take long to figure out a pizza place is incredible -- for one, you hear it from just about everybody. And this place is no exception. I double-dog-dare you to ask anyone who lives in Los Gatos what they think about Oak & Rye. Go ahead. I dare you!

2. Velocity, 4894 San Juan Avenue, Fair Oaks

The pizza looks incredible -- but how many can draw a crowd with their garlic bread alone? That says something, doesn't it? You know you want some.

3. Skipolini's, 1033 Diablo, St. Clayton

This place is a fixture in Clayton. As a matter of fact, there are a few more that have popped up around the Bay Area. Family owned and delicious, it's a great place for sure. 17 years ago I arrived here because a friend told me that their pizza was known for putting moms into labor. It apparently worked for lots of mamas.

4. Dante's California Style Pizza & Cafe, 9305 Thornton Rd Ste H, Stockton

This right here is a what a Philly cheese steak looks like on steroids. Their pizza looks eve better. Don't believe me? Google them, people!

5. One Speed, 4818 Folsom Blvd, Sacramento

Think Pizza Joint PLUS classy cafe. It's a fun place to go with friends. Known for their big portions, they can be a little pricey but you get A LOT of food. This is their bruschetta appetizer. YUM!

6. Old Town Pizza & Tap House, 9677 Elk Grove Florin Rd, Elk Grove

Pizza here is AMAZING. But we must give a shout out to these. They're named "Paco fries" and have loads of toppings that will make you weep with joy. Apparently, their blue cheese fries are on point as well. Don't enjoy this place without one of their craft beers on tap!

7. MOD Pizza, 913 Dana Drive, Redding

Build your own thin crust pizza then watch it bake in their brick oven. Need a gluten-free choice? Here you go. It's PHENOMENAL.

8. Porky's Pizza Palace, 1221 Manor Blvd, San Leandro

Here you'll find meatballs that can feed an army and some of the best fried chicken in town. Porky's is much more than a great pizzeria - it's a place where people know your name. Even if you move away, you always come back to Porky's. It's like eating a plateful of delicious memories. And who can beat that?

9. Base Camp Pizza, 1001 Heavenly Village Way, South Lake Tahoe

Small pear and gorgonzola salad sound good to you? It's just another reason why you need to take a saunter inside one of the most popular pizza places in South Lake Tahoe. Aptly named, make sure to come in for their great pizza and plan to stay awhile - you're not going to want to leave.

10. Gold Dust Pizza, 20 Eureka St, Sutter Creek

Would you believe this is ONE calzone? Their chicken bbq pizza is especially notorious for being a yum-fest. One person said, "It's not the best pizza in Sutter Creek--it's the best in CALIFORNIA!"

11. Razzo's Pizza & Salads, 4312 MacArthur Blvd, Oakland

In Northern California you get extra points if you put "salad" in your business name. The pizza here is known to be off the hook, but every once in awhile we bring along someone who can't eat pizza or isn't in the mood - that's when you know you've got a winning spot with Razzo's. It's a win-win for everyone!

12. Saucy, 108 W Standley St, Ukiah

I'd like to introduce you to Goomba (the top pizza) and Big Gouda Blue (the bottom pizza). If I've ever wanted to climb into a photo it's now. Enjoy some of the best beers on tap around town - and their appetizers are delicious, too.
