Buffalo offers a variety of exceptional ice cream shops that are sure to satisfy any sweet tooth.
I scream, you scream, we all scream for... Buffalo is bursting at the seams with delicious ice cream shops that are out-of-this-world good. If you don't believe us, check out this list of the nine ice cream shops that will make your sweet tooth go crazy - then check back here to let us know what you tried!
1. Jerk's Soda Fountain & Ice Cream (523 Main Street)
Jerk's Soda Shop opened last summer and it has been a big hit on Main Street ever since! Jerk's serves up classic ice cream concoctions with an old-fashioned soda fountain feel.
2. Watson's Chocolates (Several Locations)
Watson's Chocolates specializes in - you guessed it - chocolates, but they also have amazing ice cream! Check out one of their several locations, and be sure to report back on your favorite flavors!
3. Sweet Jenny's (5732 Main Street, Williamsville)
Sweet Jenny's is a sweet spot in Williamsville, with several flavors to choose from and homemade waffle cones that are to die for. I'll take a double scoop with extra sprinkles, please!
4. Parkside Candy (3208 Main Street)
We've mentioned Parkside Candy before, and we're here to tell you again: there's a reason this place has survived the test of time! Along with selling delicious candies, Parkside also has amazing ice cream and milkshakes, like the massive banana split pictured here!
5. Hertel Ave. Poutine & Cream (1488 Hertel Avenue)
"Do you want fries with that shake?" At Hertel Ave. Poutine & Cream, the answer is YES. This is undoubtedly the latest and greatest spot to hit Buffalo's ice cream scene. Just take a look at that milkshake! With fresh poutine, milkshakes, ice cream, and "creamy buns" (donuts with ice cream filling. Yes, seriously), you cannot pass this place up!
6. Lake Effect Ice Cream (79 Canal Street, Lockport)
Another great ice cream shop that we've mentioned here before, Lake Effect is worth the trip out to Lockport - but pretty soon, you won't have to travel too far to get a taste of their homemade selections! They'll be opening up shop on Hertel Avenue before you know it.
7. Churn Soft Serve (Coming soon!)
Another newcomer to look out for on Hertel Avenue, Churn Soft Serve is the brainchild of Lloyd - Buffalo's favorite food truck. While the ice cream shop isn't open yet, it will be serving up freshly churned soft serve next-door to Lloyd Taco Factory soon! Until then, you can sample some of their flavors in select Lloyd cocktails this spring.
8. Nick Charlap's (Several Locations)
The Southtowns needs some ice cream love, too! Nick Charlap's has several Western New York locations, with homemade ice cream and ice cream sandwiches, as well as plenty of other flavors and cold concoctions to choose from.
9. Custard Corner (211 Porter Avenue)
Simple is sometimes best, and Custard Corner proves just that! This classic ice cream shop serves summer staples: hot dogs, fries, burgers, and - of course - ice cream! And really, any place that serves Perry's Ice Cream deserves a mention, if you ask us.
Drooling yet? Looks like we know what you're having for dessert tonight! What is your go-to ice cream order? And even more importantly, which ice cream shop gets your vote for favorite?
