Four generations of the same family have owned and operated the restaurant, changing very little over the decades. Overlooking the beautiful Tumacácori mountains, Wisdom's Café has been serving the Tumacacori-Carmen community since 1944.

The restaurant is a bit hard to find, as it's located a bit off the main road - but you shouldn't have too much trouble if you keep an eye out for the giant chicken marking the entrance.

Inside, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with a historic charm that permeates the building. Family heirlooms and other antiques collected over the decades add a special touch that will make your dining experience one to remember.

All of the recipes have been passed down from parent to child, and little about them has changed from the mid-1900s to now. The menu is large and varied, but a common theme - that everything is handmade with love as the primary ingredient - persists throughout.

You'll see everything from tacos, burritos, and enchiladas to comforting pozole, plus chips and salsa made with local, hand-cut tortillas.

Whatever you do, don't leave without trying their most famous dish: the world-famous Fruit Burro. Featuring a local flour tortilla filled with your choice of fruit, then deep-fried and dusted with cinnamon sugar, this iconic dessert is sure to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Wisdom's is also known for its extensive beverage list, which boasts craft beer, on-tap red and white wines, and refreshing margaritas. There are plenty of non-alcoholic drinks, too!
