My family and I have spent countless Christmases here, and it’s one of my favorite places in Florida to visit during the winter. In my opinion, you must see it in person to get the full magical experience. From all the twinkling lights to the bevy of holiday decorations, come see why spending Christmas in St. Augustine, Florida, will be a perfect choice to get into the holiday spirit

Are you considering visiting St. Augustine during the holidays? Well, I highly recommend that you begin a new family tradition and add it to your list this year. St. Augustine, Florida, is not only the oldest city in the United States, but it also happens to be one of the coolest Christmas towns in Florida. Not only does the entire town get into the holiday spirit through decorations, events, and Christmas cheer, but also because of the annual spectacular known as the Nights of Lights.

Starting in the second weekend in November, right before Thanksgiving, and happening all the way through mid-January, Nights of Lights will bring St Augustine to life with millions of tiny white lights all over the city. The event kicks off with holiday musical selections and live entertainment. It's free of charge, and of course, will showcase the beauty of the holiday season with glowing lights from the ground to the tops of the buildings and beyond.

Listed as one of the top ten holiday light displays in the world by National Geographic, this is one holiday event you do not want to miss. Witness in person the millions of lights draping the old Spanish Colonial architecture, the hotels, restaurants, historic buildings, and nearly 20 blocks of the city’s center. Two spots are an absolute must-visit during this Christmas celebration — The Plaza de la Constitucion and The Bridge of Lions, each offering up the perfect holiday photo.

Make the most of the experience by downloading the Nights of Lights app. You'll have access to parking information, a list of things to do, and all the holly jolly events and special performances right at your fingertips. Having the app will make your night even more memorable since you can personally curate your experience at this fun holiday festival.

I love that there are tons of family-friendly activities during the festival season. Take the family on a trolley tour, a train, a boat ride, or a carriage through the streets this year and see firsthand why celebrating Christmas in St. Augustine is truly a magical experience.
