Sunlight Creek Bridge is the highest bridge in Wyoming.
It's located along Chief Joseph Scenic Highway, also known as Wyoming 296, in the northern portion of the state in Park County, just a stone's throw from Cody.
Sunlight Creek Bridge is a simple, one-span, concrete beam bridge.
It stretches out over a narrow and deep canyon with the beautiful Sunlight Creek. Looking straight down from the bridge you really get a feel of how deep the canyon really is.
The basin got its name from prospectors or fur traders in the early 1800s who were trapped in the area on a foggy day.
All of a sudden, a bright, sunlit valley appeared to them. That's how it got its name, Sunlight Basin.
These photographs represent the perspective from both ends of the bridge.
The canyon is so narrow, it's hard to see from the car.
Be sure to get out of the car to look straight down into the canyon. Notice the parking lot off to the left that you can park in so that you can stroll along the walkway beside the highway to enjoy the spectacular views of Sunlight Creek Bridge in Wyoming.
