This town tucked away in Platte County is one of Wyoming's hidden gems. Not only is it known for "having a whole lotta Hart," it's also known as Wyoming's "oldest incorporated town that is still in existence." Even though the town is old, its "Hart" keeps on ticking. Everyone should visit the oldest town in Wyoming at least once in their lifetime.
Hartville is a very small town located in the southeastern part of the state in Platte County.
Not only is it the "oldest incorporated town still in existence" but with a population of only 65 and a land area of under .28 of a mile, it's also the smallest town all around in Platte County.
And to top it all off, it's also home to Wyoming's oldest bar. In fact, Miners and Stockmen's Steakhouse and Spirits serves some of the best steaks in the state.
Hartville was settled in the 1870s by prospectors. Pictured is the Hartville Fire Department.
The town of Hartville was established in 1884 and named after the owner of a local copper mine, Major Virling Hart.
Many of the buildings that existed during Hartville's heyday still line the tiny main street.
Check out some of the buildings that are there today. Pictured is the Episcopal Parish Hall. What a beautiful little building.
You can also find a quaint little small town church located in Hartville. The small church is Our Savior Episcopal Church.
If you want to meet up with some of the few residents for some social activities, then the Hartville Community Center is the place to be.
Check out the Hartville Town Hall, which is the chief municipal building where all the public meetings are held with the 60 some residents.
