Wyoming is a state that's packed with interesting museums. From the Buffalo Bill Center of the West, to the Brenton Museum, there's truly something for everyone to enjoy. One of the most unique museums in the country is here in Greybull, and it's worth visiting if you're interested in any aspect of flight!
If you've spent any time in the western states, this is an all-too-familiar sight. Aerial Firefighting is a critical part of wildfire management, and dramatic photos like this one fill our news feeds every year in the summertime.
If you've always wanted to learn more about the planes and pilots that are put to this task, head to Greybull and visit the Museum of Flight and Aerial Firefighting!
This unique museum features indoor exhibits that explain the history of flight, with a focus on both combat and service planes.
Behind the museum, the "Boneyard" remains the most popular exhibit. In fact, it may be the most popular museum in this part of Wyoming!
Walk among vintage planes and learn all about their roles in serving our country
You can even take a peek inside! These look quite different than the airlines we're used to traveling in!
Some of the planes were damaged in war or firefighting service, and you can learn each of their stories as you walk through this fascinating museum.
The museum features a moving memorial, too. In the summer of 2002, two firefighting planes crashed in separate accidents, and here in the museum, a small courtyard is dedicated in their honor.
Make the drive out to Greybull to visit the Museum of Flight and Aerial Firefighting. It's one day of learning that you're sure to remember for years to come.
Visit the Museum of Flight and Aerial Firefighting's website to learn more about planning your visit, and to check their current hours. The Museum is seasonal and typically opens on Memorial Day Weekend.
