Hop Aboard Wisconsin’s Mailboat For A One-Of-A-Kind Adventure On Lake Geneva    

Delivering mail by boat may seem like an out-of-date practice, but the method is still used in a handful of places and Wisconsin is one of them. Even better, the delivery route has been turned into a fun-filled tour, complete with historical tidbits, great views, and lots of excitement. With a variety of cruises and tours, the Lake Geneva Cruise Line offers lots of ways for people to get out on the water.

Of all the tours offered by the cruise line, the most unique has got to be the US Mailboat Tour, which takes passengers along on a decades-old mail route, delivering mail to homes on the shoreline of Lake Geneva.

The mailboat was popularized back in 1916 when rugged roads made it nearly impossible to deliver mail by car to the homes situated around Lake Geneva.

The fact that there are only a handful of places in the nation where mail is still delivered by boat is just one thing that sets this tour apart. Another is that the boat never stops.

Yep, you read that right. Just as it’s been for 100+ years, jumpers leap from the moving boat to deliver and retrieve mail from dockside mailboxes.

It’s the only continuous marine mail delivery with jumpers in the world and it's truly a sight to see.

Watching the jumpers in action isn’t the only entertainment on the 2.5-hour cruise, though.

In between leaps, the jumpers narrate the tour, providing information about the historic estate homes on the route.

The perfect summertime adventure, the US Mailboat Tour is offered daily from June through September.

Each day, the boat departs from the Riviera Docks at 10 a.m. and returns around 12:30 p.m.
