There’s No House In The World Like This One In Wisconsin

One of the most intriguing attractions in all of America is in little Spring Green, Wisconsin. Yes, I am referring to The House on the Rock. Now, many of you have at least heard of this place, and I am sure tons of you have seen it. Originally opened in 1959, this unique attraction has been a joy for tons of people to experience.

But do you know the back story to this odd attraction? Apparently (and this is up for debate), Alex Jordan, who designed this home, showed some architecture plans to Frank Llloyd Wright (you probably know him) and Wright scoffed, saying he would never hire Jordan even to craft a chicken coop. So Jordan planned this home as a very large you-know-what to Wright.

Even if that isn't a true story, there must have been some intense motivation behind this house--because, honestly, who comes up with this? The home is like Frank Lloyd Wright meets Ringling Brothers. It is very strange, very large, and very complex.

Over the years, the house has grown, and the attractions within it have as well. Here are some awesome shots of what you can expect to see on a tour of the home.

1. Here is an exterior shot of the home. Notice the beautiful waterfall and gardens.

2. People "ooh" and "aah" about the Infinity Room. It has over 3,000 windows.

3. So here is where things start to get disturbing, at least for some of us. Yes, that is a carousel for dolls.

4. But, there is also a carousel billed as the "World's Largest Indoor Carousel."

5. This house has tons of doll houses. That's very "meta."

6. The "Heritage of the Sea" features all sorts of nautical exhibits and this 200 foot creature.

7. This has to be one of the most awesome living rooms ever.

8. A fan of organs (to clarify, the musical type)? There is a whole room of them.

9. This is also a piano among trees if that is more to your liking.

10. If you only come for one reason, come for the carousel. Seriously, this place is awesome.
