There’s A Restaurant Inside This Old Washington Church, And The Food Is Heavenly

It's fun to dine at a place with a good backstory... and as soon as you see the Yellow Church Cafe in Ellensburg, you'll know it has a history. Just like the name suggests, this eatery was once a church, and it's now known as one of the best restaurants in town.

The Yellow Church Cafe is located on Pearl Street in Ellensburg -- and as you can see, it's easy to spot.

You can order lunch or dinner here any day of the week, and they serve a delicious breakfast menu on the weekends.

The building was constructed in 1923 and used as a German Lutheran church for about 40 years.

After that, the building served as several businesses including a coffee shop before becoming the Yellow Church Cafe in 1997.

Inside, the ambiance is charming and welcoming.

The owners believe that food, friends and fellowship go hand in hand, and it shows.

Of course, we don't go to restaurants entirely for the ambiance -- we go to eat.

Luckily, the food here is exceptional.

The food here is made with almost entirely local ingredients, which is easy to do since Washington is full of fantastic farms, vineyards, and breweries.

They bake their bread fresh daily, cut their own meats, and use the freshest possible ingredients.

You'll find a wide variety of meaty entrees, vegan options, and sweet treats, including freshly baked pastries.

Yellow Church Cafe is open from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. Monday - Thursday.

It opens at 8 a.m. on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
