Paris, Virginia, offers a picturesque and romantic day trip destination with historic charm and natural beauty.
When it comes to romance, there's no denying the charm and allure of Paris. We're talking about Paris, Virginia, of course. Few people realize that tucked away in Virginia's horse country awaits a small town that's every bit as picturesque as its European counterpart. You may not find an Eiffel Tower replica, but if you're looking for a unique day trip, a drive to this village in Fauquier County will not disappoint.
Paris is a small village tucked away in the pristine rolling hills of Fauquier County.
The town was named to honor Marquis de Lafayette after his return to the U.S. after the War of 1812. Yet this isn’t where the comparisons to France end.
When visitors arrive at the Ashby Inn & Restaurant, they’ll be welcomed with French-country style decor as well as comfort food with subtle notes of French cuisine, such as house-made meats and local raw cheeses.
This historic Inn is located on Paris's main historic street, offering beautiful views of the nearby church and surrounding countryside.
What Paris may lack in buildings and population, it makes up for in natural beauty.
No matter the time of season, this town is surrounded by some of the most breathtaking natural landscapes in the state.

Sky Meadows State Park is just a stone's throw away, offering plenty of outdoor activities.
During the spring and summer, the fields come alive with all sorts of wildflowers and wildlife.
There's even a lavender farm (Seven Oaks Lavender Farm) just thirty-five miles south of Paris where visitors can pick their own lavender.
When the weather is not so warm, visitors can enjoy High Tea at the Ashby Restaurant.
After all, what would a trip to Paris be without homemade macarons?
