Virginia’s Oldest Drive-Through Lights Show, Celebration In Lights, Is A Magical Wintertime Event

Some holiday traditions in Virginia have stood the test of time. Celebration in Lights is one of them, and if you've yet to experience this magical drive-through, you'll want to plan your visit this season. Hosted by the Newport News Parks Division, it's the oldest drive-through lights show in the entire state. You'll look forward to admiring more than one million lights, 350 display pieces, and three miles of rope lighting. The annual Celebration in Lights has officially begun! This year's display will be up and running between November 23rd, 2023, and January 1st, 2024.

Celebration in Lights, now in its 31st season, is Virginia's oldest-running drive-through lights show. And each year, the event becomes more and more magical!

The event takes place at Newport News Parks, which totally transforms under the glow of over one million colorful lights. Each year, more and more display pieces are added to the mix, so you can look forward to seeing classics as well as new favorites.

In an effort to conserve electricity, the park began incorporating special LED lights in 2007, which save about 30 percent of electricity.

From the warmth of your car, you'll love the adventure of driving through light tunnels and past enchanting displays.
