Calling all cows and cow aficionados! This fun and funky heifer parade in Vermont is sure to be a blast for the whole family. Here’s how to check out the annual Strolling of the Heifers in Brattleboro and ring in spring with a moo!
The Strolling of the Heifers is a whimsical party and parade that celebrates cows and farmers.
It’s just what it sounds like – a massive parade of friendly, ambling cows that are decked out in colorful finery.
More than 100 cows will show off their best sparkly hats, flower garlands, and quirky costumes as they’re led by future farmers from local schools.
After the cows, other farm animals like horses, mules, oxen, llamas, pigs, chickens, and goats will also strut their stuff.
The parade will travel up Main Street and Putney Road from Brattleboro Common.
The parade starts at 10 a.m. on June 8, but the pre-parade entertainment will be in full swing by 9 a.m., so go early and set up your chair!
Stroll weekend will kick off with a massive festival featuring local vendors, crafters, music, dancing, and performances for all ages.
Bring your appetite to this festival! Local restaurants and stores will be on hand passing out free samples and cooking up tasty treats for all.
You’ll also be able to sample yummy (and free!) servings of spirits, ciders, mead, and beers made in Vermont.
The festival kicks off on Friday, June 7 and runs from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. It will be held at 157 Main Street and on the common. The parade will occur on Saturday, June 8 and starts at 10 a.m. sharp on Main Street.
