Solve An Escape Room On A Historic Warship For A Family-Friendly Texas Adventure
The USS Lexington in Corpus Christi offers unique escape rooms onboard a historic World War II aircraft carrier.
One of the best escape rooms in Corpus Christi, Texas isn't located in a strip center or a shopping mall. Instead, you'll find it onboard the USS Lexington, a historic aircraft carrier dating to World War II. Visitors can choose between three immersive puzzles, which range from saving passengers from a sinking ship to facing restless spirits that haunt the vessel. Are you up for the challenge?
Situated in the beautiful Corpus Christi Bay, the USS Lexington is an Essex-class aircraft carrier that was built during World War II.
Commissioned in 1943, the ship served extensively in the Pacific War before being decommissioned after the war ended. She was then reactivated again in the early 1950s and decommissioned for good in 1991, having served longer than any other ship of her class.
Today, the ship is a museum with a variety of exhibits detailing its rich and fascinating history, including scale models, a flight simulator, a Pearl Harbor exhibit, and more.
Easily the most unique activity onboard the Lexington is Lockdown on the LEX, a series of escape rooms that task participants with solving one of three immersive, challenging, and downright fun puzzles.
One of the missions is called Beat the Blast, which presents a life-or-death scenario: fine and detonate a nuclear bomb in under 60 minutes to save humanity as we know it.
If you're in the mood for some ghost hunting, Face Your Fears is the escape room for you. In this challenge, a team of paranormal investigators have gone missing somewhere on the ship, and it's your job to search its deepest, darkest depths to locate them.
The final mission is called SOS, and it's a deluge of catastrophic events. Can you get everyone off the ship safely amid fires, explosions, and rising water levels?
Various time slots are available for each of the three escape rooms, and bookings are done on the USS Lexington website.
Please note that children under the age of 12 are not permitted to participate (unless you book the entire escape room session).
Escape room participants receive complimentary access to the museum, so you can enjoy some educational fun before or after your game. From the Flight Deck, which features 20 aircraft from the National Museum of Naval Aviation, to an immersive 3D theater with sound effects, the whole family is sure to have a blast on this unique and historic warship.
Visit the USS Lexington website or USS Lexington Facebook page for more information about Lockdown on the LEX, including current ticket prices, availability, and a thorough FAQ page.
