Spooky season is in full swing, and if you only attend one event this year, let it be Pumpkins After Dark. Open through October 31, this family-friendly Halloween event in Texas only has one location in the entire U.S. — and it just so happens to be right here in Houston! Come walk through a trail of over 10,000 hand-carved pumpkins and experience the magic that only autumn can bring. I promise this will be one of your family's annual fall events. All it takes is one visit, and you'll be hooked!
Pumpkins After Dark is located at Big Rivers Waterpark & Adventures in New Caney. It’s almost like a walk-through Christmas lights show, only for Halloween instead. Larger-than-life displays feature everything from dragons spewing flames to creepy clowns with maniacal grins to jack-o-lanterns whose faces are twisted into expressions of pure evil. Those 10,000 glowing pumpkins I mentioned before are pretty special, too. Lighting up the night in the most spooktacular way imaginable, they create a whimsical scene that will have you snapping photos at every turn. Some of them are even arranged into tunnels, so you can walk beneath the lights as they illuminate the path in front of you.
It isn’t just lights, either. Visitors can also enjoy live pumpkin carving demonstrations, fall eats and sweets, and Instagram-worthy photo ops. You'll feel like you've stepped into a wholesome autumn Hallmark movie as you munch on fall desserts, watch the pumpkin carvers hard at work, and take pictures in front of all the displays.
Visit the Pumpkins After Dark website for more information, such as ticket prices. You can also purchase your tickets on the website. If you’d like to see more photos of the event, the Pumpkins After Dark Facebook page is full of them. The attraction is wheelchair accessible, however, the terrain is uneven in some places, so it's recommended that wheelchair users have someone with them to assist.

There's so much going on that you won't want to miss! If you need a place to stay in town, I recommend the Marriott Marquis Houston. I had the pleasure of staying there last winter, and everything about my experience was immaculate.
