Ripley’s Odditorium Museum In Dallas – Fort Worth Is Not For The Faint Of Heart
Discover the top hiking trails in the Pacific Northwest, known for their stunning scenic views and diverse landscapes.
For anyone desiring a case of the creepies, Ripley's Odditorium is the place to be. Interested in seeing anomalies of nature, historic torture devices, really strange replicas of actual humans, or even items pertaining to the supernatural? You can see it all at this Ripley's museum in Grand Prairie, conveniently located right on the highway, directly between Dallas and Fort Worth.
The Odditorium really knows how to make an entrance!
The museum's entrance on its own is enough to get you excited! Even better, it's open 365 days a year, although hours may change based on time of year and on holidays. While you can easily spot the museum when traveling along Interstate 30, the physical address is at 601 E. Palace Parkway.
It lives up to its hype of "All Strange! All True!"
With over 7,000 square feet and 12 themed galleries, there's bound to be something to give you the chills.
You can choose only the Odditorium, or visit additional attractions as well.
Ripley's Odditorium is a separate museum, but you can also choose to spend the day there and check out Louis Tussaud's Palace of Wax, the Mirror Maze, a Laser Race, and the Moving Theater.
"Oddities" is most definitely an apt description.
Nature's most unusual abnormalities are everywhere you look, and whether or not you agree with them being on display, you are guaranteed to take a second look.
They are proud of their shrunken heads here.
If shrunken heads and the process for achieving them fascinates you, you've definitely come to the right place. And yes, there is quite a process involved.
How do you size up to the world's tallest man?
Admittedly, it's pretty cool to compare yourself against the world's tallest man. This robo-dude actually alternates between standing and sitting positions!
Supernatural lovers will find items of interest here.
It's intriguing to know that there were actual "vampire killing kits" made (and maybe still used). It does beg the question about how many folks actually leave the odditorium wanting one of their own...
The "Lizard Man" is a Texan!
It really shouldn't come as a surprise that this guy originates from Austin. Here's guessing that he took the city's "Keep Austin Weird" mantra to heart.
Not only does the museum feature two-head, one-body oddities, this one is a single-head, double-bodied variation.
Apparently two bodies with one head much more rare, making this ill-fated calf (or should we say calves?) destined for a unique claim to fame.
The Odditorium requires some reading to explain its weirdness.
You didn't think it would be as simple as a quick gawk and walk-by, did you? The Odditorium has provided significant detail about each of its exhibits for the curious, which is great for those who really want to learn all of the interesting - and sometimes unsettling - details about all things odd.
Mood lighting and the grotesque add to the experience.
The Odditorium ensures you get your money's worth with all things odd and even scary, but the expert use of setting up hair-raising exhibits and macabre lighting really sets the mood.
The spinning vortex is most definitely a mind-trip.
The spinning vortex tunnel makes sure you'll find the visit extra memorable. You may feel you've been sucked into another dimension entirely!
Have you visited The Odditorium? If so, what exhibit did you find the most interesting (or disturbing)? We love your feedback (and photos) from this strange adventure!
