Fortunately, there's one such place right in the city: the Houston Arboretum. Spending time in nature is arguably the best way to blow off steam, and this beautiful park has plenty of trails with a variety of plant life to enjoy.

The Outer Loop trail sees very few visitors at a time because it's longer than all the rest, designed for distance runners and hikers.

Surrounded by trees that shield it from the rest of the park, the trail feels very lonely and remote.

You'll come to a secluded bridge about halfway down the path, and an intense feeling of trepidation will immediately engulf you.

Time will appear to slow as you walk across the wooden planks, your ears listening for any sounds that aren't supposed to be there...and that's when you hear it.

...feet pounding on the pavement behind you only to seize their noise as soon as you whirl around to investigate. What was it? A child? Your mind playing tricks on you? We may never know for sure...
