Texas Is Getting A Brand New Universal Studios Theme Park

Universal Studios is opening a new family-oriented amusement park in Frisco, Texas, featuring themed rides and character meet-and-greets.

If you have kids (and/or are just one at heart yourself), you'll be thrilled to learn about a new amusement park coming to the Lone Star State soon. Universal Studios Texas is coming to Frisco, and it will be geared toward families, with themed rides, character meet-and-greets, and so much more.

Just 25 minutes north of Dallas, Frisco is such an underrated destination for a family getaway.

The city of around 200,000 is home to many world-class attractions, including the National Soccer Hall of Fame, Ford Center at the Star, National Videogame Museum, and so much more.

Soon, however, Frisco's status will be elevated from hidden gem to major tourist hub for one reason and one alone: Universal Studios is opening a park there!

While the park is expected to be much smaller than the flagship location in Orlando (about 1/4 of the size), it will still pack a punch when it comes to family-friendly rides and other attractions.

The proposed location is right off of the Dallas North Tollway, and Universal has already purchased 97 acres of land.

Central to the park's design will be a series of immersive lands featuring some of the most iconic characters from the Universal brand. There will also be an adjacent themed hotel.

Dates for either groundbreaking or the eventual grand opening are yet to be announced.

In the meantime, there is much to get excited about. Geared towards a younger audience, the park will boast interactive shows, themed food, beverage, and merchandise areas, character meet-and-greets, and - of course - a host of kid-friendly theme park rides.

So while the park will match neither the size nor scope of Universal's other locations, it will serve the ever-growing market of families with children and offer plenty of fun for all.
