Texas Has One Of The Top Travel Destinations For 2017 In America

This place is none other than the Texas Hill Country. There's practically nothing you CAN'T do there. Between its countless natural wonders, amazing food, charming towns, and historical landmarks, it makes perfect sense that this region was voted one of the best travel destinations for 2017 in America. Your trip here will be one you'll never forget, that's for sure.

The hill country is famous for its numerous water activities, such as the magical underground grotto that is Hamilton Pool in Dripping Springs...

...Wimberley's Jacob's Well, a crystal-clear swimming hole with a 200-foot deep abyss in the middle...

...and several rivers to float the day away on.

There's Fredericksburg, a charming town with beautiful vineyard tours...

...and the famous pink blob better known as Enchanted Rock.

We can't forget about our state's capital city, the eccentric, weird place that's somehow still perfectly Texan.

The Congress Avenue bats are a can't-miss summer night attraction, with millions of Mexican Free-Tailed bats emerging from underneath the bridge at dusk.

Just a few miles away is New Braunfels, home to the #1 waterpark in America: Schlitterbahn.

Nearby are the Natural Bridge Caverns, a breathtaking cave system with many different tours for people of all agility levels.

Gruene, a quaint German community within New Braunfels, has the oldest dance hall in Texas. You can also dine at the famous Gristmill, a rustic restaurant overlooking the Guadalupe River. The town square isn't one to be overlooked with its old-fashioned buildings and adorable shops.

The hill country is full of charming small towns, like Luckenbach, that encompass everything Texas is all about.

And the barbecue is to die for. A trip to Central Texas just isn't complete without stopping at The Salt Lick, Black's, Kreuz Market, or any of the other numerous joints.

If you visit in the spring, even the most boring stretches of highway come alive with vibrant wildflowers. It's become a Texas tradition to get out and take family pictures among them.

In San Antonio, we can "Remember the Alamo" by visiting the forever memorialized site of one of the most courageous battles in Texas history. Tourists come from all over the country to pay homage to the brave soldiers who lost their lives here.

The number of state parks concentrated in this region is astounding. One of my personal favorites is Pedernales Falls because of the gorgeous blue water and the vast expanse of rocks to climb and explore.

Have you vacationed in the Texas Hill Country? What's your favorite memory from your time there?
