This Family-Friendly Park In South Dakota Has An Epic Playground, Museum, Rec Trails, And More
Spearfish City Park in South Dakota offers a family-friendly environment with a playground, hiking trails, and historic sites.
South Dakota parks attract people worldwide, but even some Mount Rushmore State parks manage to be even more magical than others! Case in point: This family-friendly SoDak park is home to not only an epic playground but also a museum and world-class recreational trails.
Welcome to the epic Spearfish City Park!
Located in - you guessed it! - Spearfish, Spearfish City Park is billed as a "central location to attractions, events, and activities," and for a good reason.
Nestled away beside Spearfish Creek, the fun at Spearfish City Park begins with the massive wooden playground that offers plenty of opportunities to climb, swing, and slide.
After letting the kids go wild on the playground, you will want to hike around the Spearfish Rec Trail, which features 7.5 miles of winding paths and other things to see and do.
Finished hiking (or need to cool off)? Lucky for you, the Spearfish Rec Trail follows the Spearfish Creek, making for picturesque views and a great place to splash around!
In addition to all of the recreational opportunities, Spearfish City Park also boasts the D.C. Booth Historic National Fish Hatchery and Archives and its ponds and gardens, historical artifacts, and trout viewing.
As if you needed another reason to visit, there is also a museum (the Von Bayer Museum), an old railcar, and a gift shop.
