Schaefer's Auto Art has been an Erie favorite for more than 25 years, showcasing the artwork of Richard Schaefer.

Now a family affair, the art display was inspired in 1988 by Schaefer's interest in the artwork form called "auto art."

Because he worked in a junkyard at the time, Schaefer had access to quite a few hidden gems, including the old automotive parts he uses to create his metal masterpieces.

Since it first debuted, Schaefer's Auto Art has drawn curiosity-seekers from all over the state and beyond. It's also been featured in a book.

You can find Schaefer's Auto Art in the print publication of Ripley's Believe It Or Not “Unlock The Weird!”

The art installation features such striking sculptures as a giant bee, a dinosaur, and a massive spider.

Snap a few shots of the rocketship, too.
