Let's take a stroll down Memory Lane. To a time that most of us have only heard about through firsthand accounts from parents or grandparents. World War II brought Americans together, all fighting toward a common cause. Discover why those in the World War II generation are considered "The Greatest Generation" by many when you visit this fascinating World War II Museum in Pennsylvania that honors those who served America abroad and at home during the war.
Explore the three-story Eldred World War II Museum, which tells the story of World War II, including the town's role in it.
In fact, Eldred was home to the National Munitions Company, originally serving the British Armed Services, during World War II.
However, after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, the plant began ammunition production for the American Armed Forces. At the time, 95 percent of the National Munitions Company's employees were women.
And, the company made hand grenades, bombs, and trench mortars.
Today, the town is home to the Eldred World War II Museum, which honors the men and women who made so many sacrifices during World War II.
The museum features a library, home to more than 8,000 books that focus on World War II.
Of course, the museum also hosts events throughout the year and educational tours for schools and other groups.
Admission to the museum is $5. Visitors, who are 18 years and younger, are free.
