Ohio Has the World’s Largest What?! This Is Strange but Kinda Awesome

From giant foods to downright looming office supplies, anyone looking to find "the world's largest things" should look no further than Ohio.

Ohio is home to some pretty strange, rather large objects — the largest in the world, in fact. From giant foods to downright looming office supplies, anyone looking to find "the world's largest" something to take a picture with can look no further than Ohio. The following are what's left of "the world's largest" artifacts in Ohio (sadly, the cheese wheel and crystal ball have been removed — but it's pretty darn cool they were here at some point, once upon a time!). Here are 10 of the world's largest things in Ohio:

1. Our list of the "World's Largest Things in Ohio" begins in Cleveland with this beauty.

For all your stamping needs, Cleveland's got you. Known as "The Free Stamp" in Ohio, it is 659 feet large and located in Willard Park. Talk about some epic scrapbooking ...

2. Ohio is known for its corn fields, but this one takes the cake.

Because here in Ohio we have a thing for giant food and corn and Dublin took the "world's largest corn field" concept to a whole other level. In this former corn field in Dublin, 109 people-sized corn stalks stand tall and proud, a fun reminder of our state's agrarian roots!

3. Washboards are not extinct, despite what you might think ...

... at least not until the world's largest one in Logan is gone. Setting world records in Ohio, this icon hangs off of what may be the only washboard factory in the Western Hemisphere and is located at 14 Gallagher Ave., Logan, OH, 43138.

4. The world's largest loaf of bread happens to be in Urbana.

This massive attraction can be found at Bundy Baking Solutions. What can we say? In Ohio, we love our carbs. But of all the world's largest things in Ohio, this one is making me hungry.

5. If this cuckoo clock can't get your attention, we don't know what will.

In 2010, the 24-foot-tall "World's Largest Cuckoo Clock" in Ohio was moved from its old home in Wilmot to Sugarcreek. It was bought by Walnut Creek Cheese and donated to the Swiss-themed tourist town. The big timepiece was built in 1972 and stood for decades on a hill behind the restaurant. Every 30 minutes, a three-foot-tall couple on tracks danced the polka to Bavarian music played by a five-piece robot oompa band! In May 2012, the clock was moved to its new, permanent location on Sugarcreek's Main St, where the titanic timepiece resumed its cuckooing duties in November 2012. To me, this is one of the best roadside attractions in Ohio.

6. Blanchester, what inspired a giant horseshoe crab? This is something you'd expect to find in Maine or Massachusetts... not Southern Ohio!?

His name is Crabby, by the way, and he is 28 feet wide, 67 feet long, and 12 feet high — not counting its elevated tail. (Weird side note: we are convinced we could spaciously live inside of this thing if we needed to.)

7. The Longaberger headquarters in Newark wants to make sure everyone knows how serious they are about their product.

The basket is a replica — 160 times larger — of Longaberger's Medium Market Basket in Ohio. It's 192 feet long and 126 feet wide at the bottom, spreading to 208 feet long and 142 feet wide at the roofline. It is truly a magnificent sight to see! We love that this basket is a display of both form and function, as it housed the Longaberger HQ, once upon a time.

8. Because the world's largest basket wasn't enough ... we had to also make sure we included the world's largest apple basket (located in Frazeysburg) on this list.

A huge basket, 20-ft. tall, filled to the brim and overflowing with large, fake apples, is on the Longaberger Homestead but is closed to visitors. How about them apples?!

9. Seriously, where else would the world's largest pumpkin be other than on a water tower in Circleville?

Shaped and painted like a giant pumpkin in Ohio, this water tower promotes Circleville's annual Pumpkin Show festival, billed as "the greatest free show on earth." Now that's a lot of pumpkin spice lattes...

10. And finally, if you've ever wondered where the world's largest gavel was (and who hasn't?) it can be found in downtown Columbus.

Talk about bringing down the hammer...

Did you know about these 10 world's largest things in Ohio? How totally cool! Does your state have any impressively massive roadside attractions? Here are some of the biggest, most incredible roadside attractions in the U.S. — now go plan an epic adventure!
