The Hidden Ohio Castle, Loveland Castle, Makes You Feel Like You’re In A Fairy Tale

The Château Laroche, (more commonly known as the Loveland Castle,) is a museum on the banks of the Little Miami River in Loveland, Ohio---and it's truly charming. Ohio explorers and history buffs alike will appreciate the story behind Loveland Castle. You can explore this one-of-a-kind attraction on your own for a small fee. Nestled in the northern Cincinnati suburbs right on the river, you'll find this hidden gem.

This lovely little medieval structure was built by hand--brick by brick--by one man, Sir Harry Andrews. Today it is open for the public to view for $5 a person. (Children 5 and under are free.)

Upon arriving, don't forget to sign the guest book.

There are games to play if you plan to stay awhile...

...and just like any castle, you'll find a dungeon downstairs.

Upstairs, you'll find suits of armor and several other rooms.

Sir Harry lived in the castle while he built it and passed on the castle to the Knights of the Golden Trail upon his death in 1981.

Today, the castle is operated and maintained by members of the Knights of the Golden Trail.

The castle was "built as an expression and reminder of the simple strength and rugged grandeur of the mighty men who lived when Knighthood was in flower," according to the castle's website.

After you've explored all the floors and rooms of the castle, be sure to head outside...

Loveland Castle is open to visitors every day from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. until September. From October to March, the castle is open Saturday-Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
