You Will Fall In Love With These 10 Beautiful Old Barns In North Dakota

Showcases 10 beautiful old barns in North Dakota, highlighting their unique charm and photogenic qualities.

There's something about an old, worn barn that draws us all in. Even if they are partially collapsed and all the paint has stripped off the wood they still hold a beauty entirely unique to them. They make us wish we could have seen them back in their hay day, if you will (okay, I apologize for that one, it was an awful joke). If anything at all, old barns in ND make great photo subjects. Case in point: these very generous photographers took the opportunity to get some great shots of these 10 beautiful barns in North Dakota:

1. This gorgeous barn in Hazelton, ND

Even though the red paint is almost entirely worn off, this barn still looks great! Juxtaposed against the bright blue sky and fluffy clouds, you can imagine the prime period of this barn's life.

2. This aging barn near Reeder, ND

A very classic barn, and a pretty one at that, even after all these years! Some of these barns are abandoned but many are still in operation. A building doesn't have to be perfectly painted to still get the job done.

3. A worn down barn off a county road near West Fargo, ND

I'd make another hay pun since this barn has a lovely, still-pristine hay loft opening that we can clearly see, but I think you've all hayed enough. ...Anyone? Please? We imagine the view from that hay loft is incredible, especially at sunrise.

4. Even if barely, this old barn is still standing

Tucked back in a tree row is this poor old barn. Despite its failing structure, there is still something awesome about it. One of the magical things about old barns is the way they can be repurposed. You could turn it into a brewery, a wedding venue, a restaurant, or any other new life.

5. A beautiful old barn at sunset

What a breathtaking shot by Brooke Raymond! This serene golden hour view makes the barn that much more beautiful.

6. The last remains of an old farm near the water

A beautiful location where once a much bigger and beautiful barn must have stood! This property could be turned into something incredible if the owners decide to rebuild here.

7. A large old barn on the Sheyenne River National Scenic Byway

Just south of Valley City is this grand old barn. It's huge! Back in the day this barn must have held so much livestock and supplies.

8. This lovely old barn near Skyeston, ND

This barn is in great condition still and absolutely lovely! Old buildings are some of the most photogenic places in North Dakota.

9. This 1934 barn south of Carson, ND

Like a classic red barn from a childhood storybook! And best of all it's likely still operational.

10. A gorgeous old farm among the hills

Though obviously a bit run down, these old farm buildings on beautiful scenery like this seems like it deserves to have its story told, I want to know what it used to be like and what went on all those years ago.

New barns are nice, but old barns just have some sort of character and charm to them we can all appreciate! Have you visited any moving old structures recently? If so let us know in the comments below. We love hearing about your firsthand experiences at these unique places.

...Don't worry, we're done pitching hay puns at you. Get it? Because of pitchforks... that pitch hay? Okay, jokes aren't exactly our forte, but hay, at least we tried!
