You’ll Love This One Awesome Activity Series In Charlotte And It Won’t Cost You A Cent

Are you looking for something new and exciting to do in your neighborhood, but want to stay on a budget at the same time? We've got the free activities for you with the Arts & Sciences Council of Charlotte's Culture Blocks series.

An amazing activity series aimed at bringing communities together to appreciate the arts and sciences, Culture Blocks hosts many free events throughout the city for all to enjoy.

Seeking to break down cultural barriers created by geographical spread, this series encourages community members to engage in fun, educational activities that foster an interest in the arts.

The Arts & Sciences Council in Charlotte is dedicated to promoting a positive cultural community in the Queen City. They host many other events throughout the year aside from the Culture Blocks series.

The ASC also provides tools and resources for residents who want to become more engaged in the community, including providing services and training to strengthen cultural professionals and volunteers.

The ASC Culture Blocks Series is funded by Mecklenburg County and offers cultural events in seven blocks in the county.

Partnering with local libraries and parks and recreation centers, various activities are planned for these areas and residents are encouraged to come participate at absolutely no cost.

Past Culture Blocks events have included performances by local dance companies.

There are also open discussions about what various neighborhoods would like to see happen culturally in their communities.

The ASC is directly aligned with some of Charlotte's most inspired museums and educational organizations.

This makes it easy for residents to become more involved with arts and science organizations that might speak to them through a Culture Blocks event.

Upcoming Culture Blocks events include clay working seminars for children and adults.

These creative clay workshops teach participants how to create their own masterpiece while they learn about topics that reflect the history and cultural influences of ceramic arts.

Another upcoming Culture Blocks event is a cultural dance program presented by the Charlotte Ballet in the North End Block of town along N. Graham and N. Tryon Streets.

The dance class open to all ages and will teach some of the basics of ballet to area residents and expose participants to some of the most skilled and talented dancers in the industry.

In the West Block of Charlotte, various art and music workshops are hosted on the first Saturday of every month starting in November and ending in June 2018.

Throughout the winter, there are plenty of jazz and musically-themed Culture Blocks planned for music lovers.

The African Drums Circle is a big hit every Saturday in the East Block along the Central Ave. corridor and Independence Blvd.

It takes place every Saturday through February and offers free drum lessons for children ages 3 to 18, as well as a drum circle for all ages.

Community members in Charlotte who have participated in a Culture Blocks event love the camaraderie and solidarity it offers neighbors and friends.

Whether it is performances, classes, or workshops, Culture Blocks is guaranteed to have an event that will pique your interest and make you want to see what it is all about.
