This Canopy Walk Near Charlotte Will Make Your Stomach Drop

The Canopy Tour at the USNWC lets you glide through the woodlands along the Catawba River and see portions of the Historic Tuckaseegee Ford and Trail while on the tour.

The best time to go is in the spring or fall, when the leaves on the trees are thriving and are a brilliant green or changing to their beautiful autumn colors.

The tour takes you through a diverse natural backdrop.

Starting out in the hardwood trees that reach heights of 90 feet, then soaring over the Catawba River banks and wetlands, you really get a glimpse of the wondrous natural beauty or city has to offer.

Each tour is led by a trained USNWC guide who will lead you through the magic of the forest.

You'll start at a beginning platform in the middle of the woods, where you'll be helped into your harness and suited up with the appropriate safety gear for the tour.

The guide will walk you through a few rules and best practices...

...and then you'll be off!

Gliding through the beautiful forest is the closest experience to flying you will ever feel.

The tour consists of a series of challenges and thrills along the way.

There are platforms set up throughout the tour, so you'll glide and land, zipping from platform to platform as you soar through the trees.

There are multiple rope bridges and walkways that you'll have to summon your inner strength to get across.

But once you make it through, you'll be so proud of what you accomplished.
