All it takes is one good idea to get a ball rolling, so it should come as little to no surprise when you hear that one of New York's most fascinating museums came to be after a small group of North Country locals gathered together to showcase the things that they love. Founded nearly 20 years ago, let's take a look at just how much the Champlain Valley Transportation Museum has expanded since originally opening up back in 2000.
Taking you all the way up north near New York's border, Plattsburgh is home to the Champlain Valley Transportation Museum.
What started off as a way to showcase Lozier cars eventually expanded into so much more, with the museum now showcasing all sorts of transportation-related history.
Made up of different exhibits and showrooms, the Diecast Room puts you amongst 800 models of transportation.
A museum that will make you feel like a kid again, some of the cars that you'll see showcased you may remember from the good old days.
While others date back a bit before your time, with cars that are from 1903 on display here too.
Out of all the cars that are showcased in the museum, the Lozier Type 82 is the one that usually fascinates visitors the most, the only known kind of Lozier in existence!
As we said though, the museum has expanded much more since originally opening, now covering local transportation history that dates back to the days of handmade canoes and bicycles.
The museum even has its own children's section known as the Kids' Station that the entire family will have a blast exploring.
The Kids Station hosts a variety of exciting events all throughout the operating year, offering younger New York residents a fun way to dive into local history.
From train displays to actual locomotives that you can climb on into...
...To mesmerizing exhibits and car displays that will leave you speechless, the Champlain Valley Transportation Museum offers more than you'd originally expect.
