Hot Air Balloons Will Be Soaring At New York’s 30th Annual Hudson Valley Hot Air Balloon Festival

There's something truly magical about seeing a hot air balloon in person. The giant size of the balloons, the bright colors, the idea of floating away from your troubles...it all combines into a carefree feeling of sheer joy. If you're looking for a hot air balloon festival in New York that the whole family will love, then you can see hot air balloons in at the Hudson Valley New York Hot Air Balloon Festival. The 33rd edition of this beloved festival will take place on August 30th and 31st and September 1st, 2024 at Tymor Park in Union Vale. It's one of the best summer festivals in New York state!

There are 120 planned balloon launches throughout the weekend (weather permitting).

Morning launches take off around 6:30 a.m. and evening launches are at 5:30 p.m.

Seeing these colorful and majestic balloons is a truly unique experience. The festival has a picnic area so you can chow down while watching the balloons soar through the Hudson Valley skies.

Tickets are $23.95 in the evenings and just $13.95 in the mornings. This is a great family activity.

Please note that tickets must be purchased online in advance! You cannot buy tickets at the gate.

For an additional fee, you can even take a hot air balloon ride!

Full flights are $350 per person and you'll actually get to free-float through the air. For those who find that a little intimidating, tethered rides are also available for $25 per person. You'll be attached to the ground via a rope and only up 50-100 feet.

With many food vendors on site and tons of family activities and live music, there's a lot to see and do here. Even if you prefer to keep your feet on the ground, you're sure to have a great time!

Balloons float with the wind, so they can't easily be steered or float in a circle. Pilots have to keep an eye beneath them to make sure there are appropriate landing sites nearby.
