The Empire State is big and sprawling. We've got so many great cities and small towns in New York that it's tough to keep up with them all, and it's easy for some to slip through the cracks. One place that makes for a great day trip is Geneva. This city's population numbers around 10,000, but despite its relatively small size, there's a lot to see and do here. The landscape is beautiful and it's home to some of the best wineries in New York. There are some great museums to check out as well. Here's a few of our favorite activities in Geneva:
Finger Lakes Welcome Center: 35 Lake Front Dr, Geneva, NY 14456
The Finger Lakes Welcome Center makes for a great beginning to your trip. This is way better than your typical run-of-the-mill welcome center. It features a Taste NY Market that has plenty of items produced in the Finger Lakes region, and lots of suggestions on places to check out in the area! Visit the center's website for more information.
Seneca Lake State Park: 1 Lake Front Dr, Geneva, NY 14456
Seneca Lake State Park is a beautiful 151-acre preserve that overlooks the lake it is named for. There are plenty of amenities here, like a playground and "sprayground" that are especially popular with kids. You can find more information on the New York State Parks website.
Three Brothers Wineries and Estates: 623 Lerch Rd, Geneva, NY 14456
Geneva is home to a number of beautiful wineries! One that we love is Three Brothers, which is not only a vineyard but also a microbrewery and cafe. Check out its website for more information.
Rose Hill Mansion: 3373 NY-96A, Geneva, NY 14456
Rose Hill Mansion is a must-see for history lovers in New York. This 19th-century home and farm has been converted into a museum showcasing life in the region in the 1800s. The museum is open seasonally, but the grounds are open year-round. You can get more information on the mansion's website.
Belhurst Castle and Winery: 4069 W Lake Rd, Geneva, NY 14456
Belhurst Castle is a beautiful castle in New York that was built in the 1880s. It's now home to yet another gorgeous Geneva winery as well as three hotels and two restaurants. If you plan on making your trip a weekend getaway, stay here for the night! You can get rates and more information online.
Smith Opera House: 82 Seneca St, Geneva, NY 14456

Geneva is absolutely filled with history, and one great place to explore that is the Geneva History Museum. They've got all kinds of interesting exhibits about the area.
