With Thousands Of Collectible Toys, This Small Town Museum In New Jersey Is A True Hidden Gem

The Matchbox Road Museum in Newfield, NJ, houses over 50,000 collectible Matchbox cars and offers a unique experience for car enthusiasts.

Who here grew up playing with toy cars? I definitely have fond memories of racing my favorite Hot Wheels - but before there were Hot Wheels, there were Matchbox cars. These die-cast collectible cars were one of the most popular toy brands for decades, since their introduction in 1953, and they expanded to produce not just cars but vehicles of all kinds. Many kids no doubt had massive collections of Matchbox cars - but nothing like the ones found at the Matchbox Road Museum in Newfield, a one-of-a-kind small-town museum in NJ. This huge warehouse is a tribute to all things Matchbox, and over fifty thousand collectible cars dating back to the early days of the company can be found in its walls. It's a truly unique experience, and enough to make you want to break out the old toys and set them up for a race!

From the outside, the Matchbox Road Museum looks like a warehouse - but inside, it's a wonderland for car lovers.

The brainchild of one man, Everett Marshall III, the museum holds over 50,000 classic Matchbox cars and accessories in its walls.

The toys range from antiques that have been off the shelves for decades to modern cars that kids may have in their homes today.

Take a close look at them through the glass - you might just see an old childhood favorite!

It's not just the cars, either - the playsets and larger toys that Matchbox introduced over the years are represented too.

One of the most impressive things about Matchbox has always been the intense detail they put into the die-cast models, and you can get a close look here.

Make sure to get some memorabilia on your way out, and make a donation to keep the museum running and growing.
